Pre-Manufactured Vacation Homes
I was reading the Isthmus and saw this ad:
Small Home/Cabin for Sale. MATC Construction & Remodeling program has pre-manufactured cabins/homes for sale. Approximately 16'x28' with 500 square feet of highly insulated livable space. Includes kitchenette, bath, loft, living area and bedroom. Electrical wiring and plumbing installed. Approximately $50,000. (Call 608-246-5273 or email stephany@matcmadison.edu for information).
That may be the way to go for budget and eco-minded vacation home buyers instead of purchasing existing homes and tear downs.(I am thinking waterfront of course). Flooring and timber is reclaimed, and good insulation = low energy costs. Plus the photo looked good. It reminded me of another article I read about Katrina houses also being for sale to the general public. I wonder if there is a renewed trend in manufactured housing? Possibly with a "eco pre-fab" spin? If so, I am prepared with a seafoam salad in hand.
